Why Juanes Has Never Performed an English Crossover Song: Juanes sings in his original tongue with much enthusiasm.

At the Toronto International Film Festival, where his new film Pimpinero: Blood and Oil had its global premiere, the 52-year-old Colombian artist told people that he does not “think it’s necessary” for him to compose music in English.

Juanes, real name Juan Esteban Aristizábal Vásquez, stated, “I don’t speak English fluently. It’s quite difficult to begin singing in a foreign language, you know? Because you lose your spirit and have to think a lot more when pronouncing the phrases.”

The Grammy winner stated that although he does not hope to compose English-language music, he does enjoy it.

“I’ve been performing music for a very long time, but I don’t think singing in English is important anymore. I still sleep and think in Spanish, so I feel connected to my language,” he said to people.

On Monday, September 9, the international premiere of Juanes’ latest film, which stars him with Laura Osma, Alejandro Spitzer, and Alberto Guerra, took place at the festival. The film, which is directed by Andrés Baiz of Narcos, is slated for release on Prime Video later this year. It centers on three brothers and follows them “as they descend into the intrigue, corruption, and moral chaos of the organized crime world.”

Making his theatrical debut in the film, the 26-time Latin Grammy Award winner told the public that the experience was “amazing.”

“I had a great time with it… It was not at all like my usual life,” he remarked. However, acting is also a small way that I create art. And when I was younger, my family and I used to act. With a 16mm camera, my brother used to create content for home television.”

In celebration of his 2023 album, Juanes is presently traveling the world on his Vida Cotidiana World Tour, with stops planned in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Paraguay, Santiago, Chile, and Saint Louis, Missouri.

He shared details about his tour experience on Instagram earlier this summer, including both picture and video highlights from the performance.

“It’s impossible to stop thinking about how much fun this leg of the Europe tour has been.” He said, “Thank you for the love and the chance to have performed for everyone.” as the post’s caption.
