Val Chmerkovskiy and Jenna Johnson First Family Vacation with Son Rome: This is Val Chmerkovskiy and Jenna Johnson’s first trip together as a family of three!
Rome, the couple from Dancing with the Stars, and their 19-month-old son took a milestone trip to Turks and Caicos, where they stayed at the Beaches resort. PEOPLE were given an exclusive peek into their “ideal” island vacation, which included a few of the enjoyable activities they engaged in together.
The trip was made much more special for the family when Chmerkovskiy’s parents went with the newlyweds.
“To us, family is everything. It is a true blessing to be able to enjoy and unwind in the stunning Turks and Caicos with Rome and my parents, Chmerkovskiy, 38, tells PEOPLE. “My parents adore our son and try to spend as much time as they can with him.”
The married professional dancers said that because their kid is already a “smooth” traveler, they were neither anxious or overwhelmed when it came to taking flights with their child.

Rome has accompanied us on many of our business trips, and we travel with her everywhere. They tell the public, “He is quite the traveler already, and we feel very comfortable with him coming along.” “We just enjoy ourselves more now that we have Rome as a child; we never intended parenthood to stop us from having fun.” It is the finest.
Rome has already taken “over 25 flights” with them, the couple continues, citing DWTS and their Chicago residency with SAVOR as the reasons.
They were “most looking forward to the water park that Beaches is known for” and “to just relax all together” when it came to their family’s activities.
Regarding the resort’s Pirate’s Island Waterpark, they say, “The lazy river and the waterslides are a must.” The family is also seen in photos from their trip having fun at the resort’s Sesame Street Parade.
The 30-year-old Johnson continues, “We spent most of our time playing in the beautiful sand and swimming in the crystal clear Caribbean water,” since her husband is more of a “beach person.”
They also made sure to take advantage of a massage at the resort’s Red Lane Spa, go snorkeling to discover the island’s colorful marine life, and eat a lot of meals together.
The hotel’s quality and kid-friendliness are the reasons the couple choose it for their first family vacation. As a family of three, it was the ideal location for us to go and enjoy ourselves.”
Chmerkovskiy and Johnson said they had been eyeing a trip to Jamaica for their next holiday, but it is unlikely to happen until after DWTS season 33, which premieres on ABC on September 17.
The couple got engaged in June 2018 while on vacation in Venice. They met on the popular ABC reality series in 2014. Several members of the DWTS cast as well as Chmerkovskiy’s brother Maks Chmerkovskiy attended their intimate wedding in April 2019 in Rancho Palo Verdes, California.
When they welcomed Rome, their first child together, on January 10, 2023, they reached yet another significant relationship milestone.
