Susan Wojcicki former YouTube CEO: The former CEO of YouTube, Susan Wojcicki, passed away. She was 56 years old.

After battling lung cancer for two years, Wojcicki passed away on Friday, August 9, as her spouse Dennis Troper posted on Facebook.

He commented, “I share the news of Susan Wojcicki’s passing with profound sadness.” “My dear wife of 26 years, who was also our mother of five children, passed away today after battling non-small cell lung cancer for two years.”

In addition to being my lifelong best friend and companion, Susan was also a bright thinker, a devoted mother, and a close friend to many. Her influence on the world, and on our family, was immense. Despite our sadness, we are happy that we spent time with her.

The post ended, pleading with you to remember our family at this trying time. The husband of Wojcicki eloquently posted a number of touching pictures of her beside his letter, showing him and some of their kids over the years.

In 2014, Wojcicki took over as CEO of YouTube. She was a key player in the growth and development of social media video-sharing, serving as CEO for nine years until her resignation in February 2023.

On X, formerly Twitter, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan posted a message about his predecessor: “Today we @youtube lost a teammate, mentor, and friend, @SusanWojcicki.” Susan was the mastermind behind the DoubleClick acquisition when I had the wonderful pleasure to meet her 17 years ago. Everything that she touched, including @google and @youtube, bears her legacy.

“I will always be appreciative of her friendship and wisdom. I shall really miss her,” he continued, before extending his sympathies to her family to wrap up his statement.

In 1999, Wojcicki was one of just 16 workers at Google when his career began. According to Variety, she was the company’s first marketing executive and also took the lead when it expanded out to Google Video in 2005 and bought YouTube for $1.65 billion the following year.

According to the site, Wojcicki oversaw the product management of Google Book Search and AdSense while he was employed at Google, and he also directed the early development of the company’s image search.

In a memorial posted on X on Sunday, Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai said, “I am incredibly grieved by the loss of my close friend @SusanWojcicki. It is difficult to picture the world without her because she is as fundamental to Google’s history as anyone. She was a remarkable individual, friend, and leader who made a huge difference in the world. I, along with many other Googlers, am the better person for having known her.

Six months have passed since Wojcicki’s son Marco Troper, 19, passed away at UC Berkeley from a heroin overdose in February.

A university representative at the time told persons that Marco, a freshman, was discovered unconscious in his hostel on Clark Kerr Campus.

Marco’s cause of death was later verified to persons by the Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau in California as “acute combined drug toxicity.” According to a coroner investigator’s report that PERSONS was able to get, he had high levels of alprazolam, cocaine, amphetamine, and hydroxyzine in his body, which led to an unintentional overdose.

After Marco’s passing, Wojcicki is survived by her spouse Dennis and her four children.
