Stephen Nedoroscik calls nailing: Before Monday, July 29, the men’s gymnastics team final in Paris, Stephen Nedoroscik only had one task to complete: perfect the pommel horse.

He did it flawlessly. The 25-year-old’s outstanding performance on the apparatus propelled him—along with his teammates Paul Juda, Fred Richard, Brody Malone, and Asher Hong—to a bronze model, marking the first Olympic medal won by the American men’s gymnastics team in sixteen years.

The athlete, who aced his routine with a 14.866, told reporters in Paris”It was just the greatest moment of my life.” “I am really glad I was there.”

Prior to his turn in the spotlight, Nedoroscik stated that it had been a “really long day,” but he was thrilled that the pommel horse was the last piece of equipment.

“I saw that as a positive, as if I could be the exclamation point,” he remarked.

The Massachusetts native, who gained popularity on social media due to his glasses—which some compared to Superman—said, prior to his event, that he could hear people cheering for Malone and Juda as he finished his breathing exercises and realised that they were putting him in a successful position.

“At that point, I kind of thought, ‘Okay, let us run it back then. “Let us get outside and do what we do best,” he exclaimed. “I consider [coach] Sam Mikulak to be the all-time great coach.” Up there, he is helping me control my nerves. He is got the perfect thing to say to me. You are ready for this, he remarked, sort of settling me down as we got that bucket of chalk. I walked up there, completed my routine, and as I was getting off, I could not help but smile.

In the end, Team USA won a bronze medal, finishing just 1.801 points behind Japan, who won the gold (China came in second for silver).

The University of Michigan’s Jordan Gaarenstroom, who coaches Juda and Richard, informed reporters that the team realized they had a medal in their future when it became evident that Nedoroscik was nailing the pommel of his horse.

Once we got to the high horse and we started calculating the numbers, we like, stay on the beast and you can do this,” he explained. “Not only did but stay on the horse, they killed the horse.
