Squid Game Season 2 Premiere Date: The “real game” will start on Thursday, December 26, when Netflix releases season 2 of Squid Game. The 2024 Olympics may already be underway.
On Wednesday, July 31, the streaming service unveiled a teaser for the much awaited upcoming season of the South Korean drama, complete with a track-and-field motif.
Netflix also disclosed that the third and final season of the show will premiere in 2025 along with this revelation.
“The actual match starts. Season 2 of Squid Game will debut on December 26. Posts uploaded by Netflix on its official accounts on X (previously Twitter) and Instagram stated, “The Final Season coming 2025.”
A almost minute-long video that starts with a close-up of people sprinting on a busy track was posted.
The Front Man states, “It is been three years,” as the camera pans to a glimpse of him while many can be heard screaming and falling. Are you up for a game?”
“Lee Jung-jae, also known as Player 456, is still committed to uncovering the individuals responsible for the game and ending the cruel activity three years after winning Squid Game. An official summary is, “Using this fortune to finance his search, Gi-hun begins in the most obvious place: look for the man in a sharp suit playing ddakji in the tube.”
“But when his attempts eventually yield results, the road towards taking down the organization proves to be more deadly than he believed: to end the sport, he needs to re-enter it,” the summary reads.

In an open letter to fans, series creator, director, and producer-in-chief Hwang Dong-hyuk also revealed his own teaser.
“Seong Gi-hun, who pledged retaliation after Season 1, reappears and rejoins the game. Will he be able to get his revenge? This time around, Front Man also does not appear to be an easy opponent,” he added. “The fierce clash between their two worlds will continue into the series finale with Season 3, which will be brought to you next year.”
Hwang stated that he is “happy to see the seed that was sown in creating a new squid game develop and bear fruit until the end of this story.”
In closing, he assured the supporters, saying, “We will do everything in our power to make sure we give you yet another thrilling ride.”
Netflix is offering Squid Game’s first season for streaming. Squid Game: The Challenge, a spin-off competition series set in real life, is also available on the platform.
