A New Jersey family loses their son in a crash while he is away at college: Three family members of a college student perished in an accident on the Garden State Parkway in New Jersey.
According to the New Jersey State Police, David Dryerman, 54, was driving a Tesla Model S on the Garden State Parkway north in Woodbridge Township on Saturday night, September 14, when it “ran off the road and hit a sign, a guardrail, and a concrete bridge support.”
According to the agency, David and his passengers, Michele Dryerman, 54, and their 17-year-old daughter Brooke, “sustained fatal injuries,” however they don’t know anything more about the collision at this time.
The family was returning home after attending a live music event at the See. Listen. Right now. Festival hours in advance, according to nj1015.com.
Carlos A. Rendo, the mayor of Woodcliff Lake, replied to the single-vehicle collision on Sunday morning, September 15, saying on Facebook, “I just received word of this terrible tragedy.” I’m stunned right now. Please remember to pray for the family.”
Max, the 19-year-old son of the Dryerman family, was away at college when the incident happened, according to Patch.com.
The Pascack Press said that on Sunday night, the Valley Chabad Center for Jewish Living and about 150 students from Pascack Hills High School, where Brooke was a senior, participated in a somber candle-lighting ceremony.
Rabbi Yosef Orenstein, who called David and Michele “beloved parents” and Brooke a “dear friend to many of our teens,” stated during the ceremony, “We are all shocked and in such pain today,” according to the Pascack Press.
In response to the family members’ passing, the Waldwick, New Jersey-based music school School of Rock Waldwick posted on Facebook, describing David as a “dear friend” and “cherished member of our Adult Jam.”
“He is survived by his son, Max, who has also played keys with us for many years,” said the statement.
In order to raise money for charity and help finance his return to college, Max has created a GoFundMe page.
“He’s considering donating to Camp Raspberry, an after-school program for children with special needs,” according to the campaign. “Max would also like to donate to an organization supporting teens battling anxiety and depression, as well as to Jewish causes.” Nearly $105,000 has been raised for the campaign as of this writing.
