Mariah Carey Verifies That Her Sister Alison and Mother Patricia Died on the Same Day: people can confirm that Mariah Carey’s mother Patricia and sister Alison passed away on the same day over the weekend.

“I lost my mother this past weekend, and it devastated my heart. Regretfully, my sister passed away on the same day due to a tragic turn of events,” the 55-year-old Grammy Award winner said in a statement made exclusively to people.

“I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mum before she passed,” says Mariah. “I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time.”

At this point, no more information is available, including Patricia and Alison’s causes of death.

Before welcoming Alison, Mariah, and son Morgan into their family, Patricia, who had previously been married to Alfred Roy Carey, was a voice instructor and opera singer with training from Juilliard. When the “Hero” vocalist was three years old, the parents eventually got divorced.

Throughout her life, Mariah’s relationship with her mother—from whom she received her singing abilities—was tumultuous.

“My relationship with my mother has been full of paradoxes and conflicting realities, much like many other areas of my existence. “There has always been a wide range of emotions; it is not just black and white,” she stated in her memoir The Meaning of Mariah Carey, published in 2020.

Mariah said in the book, “Our relationship is a prickly rope of pride, pain, shame, gratitude, jealousy, admiration, and disappointment.” “A complex love keeps my heart bound to my mothers.”

Mariah and her mother continued to have a relationship despite their ups and downs. During the 2010 Mariah Carey: Merry Christmas to You special on ABC, the pair got together and sang a joyful duet of “O Come All Ye Faithful/Hallelujah Chorus.”

Patricia was also given partial credit in Mariah’s memoir. “And to Pat, my mother, who, through it all, I do believe actually did the best she could,” she wrote in her letter. “I will love you the best I can, always.”

The dynamic between Mariah and Alison was likewise highly intricate. According to the star’s memoir, at the time, it was “emotionally and physically safer for me not to have any contact” with either Morgan or her.
