Kate Middleton prince William: Pressure was created by Meghan Markle’s “surprise” at Kate and William’s luxury residence.
The “surprise” that Meghan Markle had at Princess Kate and Prince William’s luxury residence strained relations between the two couples, a royal analyst claimed.
Initially, Prince Harry and US actress Meghan lived in Nottingham Cottage, a small two-bedroom home on the grounds of Kensington Palace in London when they first started dating.
The Duke of Sussex revealed in his book, Spare, that he felt ashamed to show the Princess of Sussex his house.
“I was excited to welcome Meg to my home, but I was also embarrassed,” the father of two wrote. It was no palace, Nott Cott.
“Nott Cott was palace neighboring – that was the best thing you could say for it.”
The Prince and Princess of Wales, on the other hand, lived in Apartment 1A, a large 20-room home inside Kensington Palace’s main edifice. The Duke of Sussex wrote later in his memoir Spare about how he was asked to tea with Prince William and Princess Kate.
The size of Nottingham Cottage in comparison to the future King and Queen’s “museum-like” mansion “embarrassed” Harry, he wrote.
Regarding Harry and Meghan’s feelings on their house, royal analyst Robert Jobson went into further detail in his most recent biography, “Catherine, Princess of Wales.”
“I am not saying Meghan was jealous, but she was surprised how lavishly Harry’s brother was living compared to other people,” the close source was reported by him as saying.
“It was likely the start of all the tensions between the two couples.”
According to Jobson, “Meghan recognized, of course, that William was in the first line of order, but she felt that Harry, as a royal prince, needed more than he had.”
In anticipation of Prince Archie’s birth in 2019, the couple moved to the ten-bedroom Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.
They made their decision to resign from their positions as senior royals known in January 2020. With their now five-year-old son, Harry and Meghan had made Montecito, California, their home by the summer of that year. Princess Lilibet was born in Santa Barbara in June 2021 to the Duchess of Sussex.
