Simone Biles in viral TikTok: At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Ilona Maher and Simone Biles are becoming closer.

The 27-year-old American rugby union player and the 27-year-old American artistic gymnast share far more in common than just being the greatest in their respective sports!

“So, we all know iconic Simone Biles,” Maher said in a TikTok video uploaded on Thursday, August 1. Biles assisted Team USA in winning bronze in the rugby competition on Tuesday, July 30.

“My sisters made custom pins for me as well, and Simone Biles made her own,” the athlete clarified.

Maher trained the camera on her unique accessory while it was being recorded.

Maher went on, “I gave Simone my custom pin, and she is going to give me hers.”
The video then cut to a happy Biles walking into the courtyard where Maher had been waiting, her hand raised in expectation of what she was going to get.

Her smile widened as Biles got closer. She also gave Maher her personalised pin as promised.

“Happy days! So thrilling,” remarked Maher.

She wrote as the TikTok’s description, “@Simone Biles my Christmas gift @Olympics @Team USA @paris2024.”

Both women have been speaking up outside of competition.

Maher responded on TikTok on July 10 to a user who appeared to be making offensive remarks regarding the rugby player’s weight.

Hello and thanks for your feedback. Although I believe you were attempting to make fun of me, this is a fact. Indeed, my BMI is thirty. To be precise, 29.3,” Maher stated at the beginning of the video.

Maher began by saying that she had “been considered overweight my entire life.” She then related an incident from high school in which she had to take a physical and give the results to the principal’s office; the word “overweight” was printed on her report card.

She claimed that most of her life had been spent in the same.

Biles has been upfront this Olympics about putting her mental health first.

“I believe that I was suppressing my trauma in the past, but I have now learnt to talk about it and let it out. The most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history, thus it has really helped me, which is why I am doing what I am doing today,” the gymnast said on her therapy journey to Today’s Hoda Kotb on Wednesday, July 31.
