Harris Trump battle: Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are splitting the small town’s six votes in Dixville Notch, New Hampshire, according to the early results of the 2024 election day.

Around 12:10 a.m. on Tuesday, officials announced the final tally, which showed three votes for Trump and three for Harris.

At midnight, the six residents of Dixville Notch, a secluded unincorporated township in the North Country region of New Hampshire, cast their ballots.

Voters clasped their hands over their hearts as three-time world accordion champion Cory Pesaturo played a rendition of the national song on an accordion before they cast their ballots.

In 1960, the small community started holding midnight elections. Before defeating Trump in the White House four years ago, then-former Vice President Joe Biden won all five votes in the small township close to the U.S.-Canadian border.

At Dixville’s Tillotson House, all eligible voters in the township—six of whom participated in New Hampshire’s first-in-the-nation presidential primary in January—gathered, and voting continued until all of them had cast their ballots.

With Election Day midnight voting, Dixville Notch is not the only New Hampshire community that has attracted national attention.

In 1948, midnight voting was introduced at Harts Location, which is located in the White Mountains of the state. Additionally, Millfield, located in the North Country of New Hampshire, close to Dixville Notch, has also held midnight voting.

However, Dixville Notch was the only place in New Hampshire to hold midnight voting for the main election in 2024.

Reporters and media organizations from across the nation and the world come to Dixville Notch every four years to cover the midnight vote during the state’s presidential primary and general election.

According to Tom Tillotson, the vote’s longstanding town moderator, “we get our 15 minutes of fame every four years.”
