Elijah Blue Allman son Cher has ended his conservatorship bid: Elijah Blue Allman’s conservatorship will no longer be sought by Cher.
The public can reveal that the two have reached a confidential arrangement, nine months after the renowned singer, 78, asked for a conservatorship of her son, citing his claimed substance misuse concerns.
“After the team effectively defended Elijah, Cher willingly withdrew her petition. The parties may now concentrate on mending and strengthening their family relationship, which started during mediation and is still ongoing, according to a statement that Allman’s lawyers, Avi Levy and Steven Brumer of Cage & Miles, LLP, provided with others. reads
Although Allman, 48, and Cher did not show up for court on Friday, September 13, Rolling Stone notes that Allman’s attorney, Gabrielle Vidal, stated that the two “privately resolved this matter” and that Cher wanted to have her petition dismissed without further action. This indicates that she may file again if necessary.
PEOPLE contacted Cher’s lawyers, but they did not receive a response right away.
A conservator was “urgently needed… to protect Elijah’s property from loss or injury,” according to documents filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court that the people previously obtained. Cher claimed that Elijah was “currently unable to manage his assets due to severe mental health and substance abuse issues.”
“Their tumultuous relationship has been marked by a cycle of drug addiction and mental health crises,” asserted Cher, rendering Marieangela King, Allman’s wife, unable to serve as his conservator.
She further claimed that “any funds distributed to Elijah will be immediately spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself and putting Elijah’s life at risk.”
The singer requested urgent temporary conservatorship in early January after filing the conservatorship paperwork in late December, but the judge rejected her request, stating that Allman’s legal team was not given enough time to review all of the paperwork.
Later that month, Allman filed another request for immediate temporary conservatorship, but this time the judge denied it, stating that Allman had demonstrated that “he has managed his finances” and “has an apartment,” and that “he has remained drug-free” after submitting “several drug tests.”
Following their meeting in May, Cher and Allman decided to “pause all legal proceedings and related activities, including all discovery and motion practice, to allow the Parties to continue working together to privately and confidentially resolve this matter.”
