Demi Lovato Considers the Drawbacks of Fame: Demi Lovato discusses how her early celebrity had a profound impact on her early years. See it down below!
When discussing her early rise to prominence, Demi Lovato kept things real. The singer, whose documentary will be released soon, talked about how she felt as a young child, “miserable,” at the height of her fame.
The solo singer talked candidly about her next project and her personal experience when she was featured on Teen Vogue’s September cover. She claimed that she knew from the beginning that it was a challenging part of her life. Because that was all Lovato wanted and it was “miserable,” she described it as “bittersweet.
She explains that she had a full schedule at the time she started working on Camp Rock 2. Speaking about her childhood popularity, Lovato said she felt alone and that no one cared about her. More importantly, though, she remembered being “miserable” and treating other people badly as a result.
Lovato talked on how she felt like a different person from the people that supported her, and she never really accepted the approval she got. “It felt like I had an imposter syndrome situation going on where people are only seeing the positive aspects of me because I was put in this position as this role model,” the woman continued.
According to Lovato, they didn’t see her going out on the weekends with her pals or getting wasted. She knew, therefore, that they were applauded for a “facade, and it felt empty” the entire time.
The singer also discussed in an interview with People magazine how her work was very different from who she was. The singer claimed that because her brand was a significant part of who she was at the time, it was “entangled and enmeshed” when she was younger.
She claimed that because she was so young, she was unable to distinguish between her brand and her own identity and would become confused between the two.
She did, however, tell the outlet that she does not “equate” her popularity with her self-worth and that learning to distinguish between the two as she gets older has been a significant lesson in her life.
With her next project, the Child Star documentary, which also stars other well-known child stars like Kenan Thompson, Jojo Siwa, Raven Simone, and many more, Lovato will make her directorial debut. Hulu is scheduled to premiere it on September 17, 2024.
