Dakota Johnson Is Seen Wearing Chris Martin Engagement Ring: Despite reports that she and her fiancé Chris Martin had broken up, Dakota Johnson is still sporting her engagement ring.
On Friday, August 16, the 34-year-old Cha Cha Real Smooth actress was photographed out in Malibu, California, with her friends Blake Lee and Jeremy Allen White. For the occasion, Johnson donned jeans and an oversized brown coat. Her left ring finger was adorned with an emerald engagement ring.
Following rumours that Johnson and the 47-year-old vocalist of Coldplay had broken up, the ring was spotted. A representative for the Madame Web star told people that the pair is “happy together” on the same day that the pictures were taken.
Johnson’s attendance at the Glastonbury Festival to support the “Fix You” campaign was the last time Martin and Johnson were seen together in June.
At the time, a source close to the pair told PEOPLE, “They have had ups and downs, but now they are back on,” and they were “going strong.”
Three years after the artist and his ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow parted ways, or as they infamously described it, “consciously uncoupled,” Martin and Johnson started dating.
In December 2020, the actress from Fifty Shades of Grey was first spotted with an emerald ring on her left ring finger. She got confirmation of her engagement to Martin in March 2024.
According to a source close to the pair, “[They] got engaged years ago, but were in no rush to get married,” the public was told at the time.
Despite having public jobs, Johnson and Martin would rather keep their relationship as secret as possible, but they have occasionally spoken about one another and attended each other’s events.
Most recently, Martin discussed Johnson with Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast listeners in March 2023, discussing how she enhanced his band’s performances for those with hearing difficulties.
“Dakota, my partner, gave me one as a gift because she saw someone online experiencing whatever they are experiencing with this,” he remarked after the actress had shown him a SubPac, a gadget that lets deaf individuals experience the vibrations of a performance.
It is similar to putting on body armour. It is related to the bass,” Martin went on.
“Now that we are using it, it has been incredible and it should only get better,” he continued. We currently have ten or twenty of those packs. We therefore provide a location where you may put on the pack and feel the performance if you have hearing loss.”
