Carson Daly Honors His Mom on 7th Anniversary of Her Passing: Carson Daly Reflects on Late Mother Pattie Daly Caruso 7 Years After Her Passing: ‘She’s Always in My Heart’

Carson Daly continues to keep the memory of his late mother, Pattie Daly Caruso, close, even seven years after her death on Sept. 17, 2017.

To honor the anniversary, Daly, 51, shared an emotional Instagram post featuring cherished photos of his mom. In the heartfelt caption, he spoke about how her influence remains a constant in his life.

“My mom died 7 yrs ago today. I’ve been on the road a lot recently & woke up in a hotel room with a heavy heart,” the Today show co-host reflected. “My 1st thought was to stop by a church and say some prayers or take time to reflect on her greatness & my gratitude that she was my mom.”

Pattie Daly Caruso passed away from a heart attack at her Palm Desert, Calif., home on Sept. 17, 2017, at the age of 73.

Daly went on to say that, while the anniversary is significant, he realized there was no need to do anything special because “the truth is I think about her every single day.”

“Like hundreds of times a day. I talk to her,” Daly shared. “Sometimes out loud. I ask her questions, offer thanks when something goes right that I know is connected to how she raised me. I walk by photos of her in my house, wink, and say thanks, mom. I toast to her with a Bloody Mary or a glass of red wine. In a way, she’s everywhere.” Carson Daly.

Daly also shared the poem “Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep” in his post, crediting it forgiving him “great peace & comfort by imagining she’s still alive.”

“It’s a choice I make. I choose to honor her as much as I always have, as if she’s still with us. When my kids perform in school plays, I feel the pride I know she has. Not would have had—she is there, for all of it,” he explained.

“I talk to my kids about her often, so they’ll always remember the love she had for them. I speak of her as if she’s just across the country,” Daly continued. “There’s something powerful about rejecting death’s finality and focusing on the enduring force of life.”

He closed the post with a loving message to his mom: “I love you today, I’ll love you tomorrow, and if I’ve learned anything in this life, it’s that I’ll see you in the next. ❤️🍷.”
