The Cool for the Summer hitmaker Demi Lovato recently discussed her most recent directing endeavor, the Hulu documentary Child Star, and her honest thoughts on the difficulties of growing up in an interview with People magazine.
According to Lovato, “Aging is something that, if I think too hard about it, I can get anxiety about — not because I’m worried about how I look or the changes in my body or my face, but because of that existential dread.”
The singer continued, saying that she prefers to live in the now and that people lose sight of it when they dwell on the past or the future. The best gift one can give oneself, she underscored, is to be present. The singer of Let It Go then discussed her most recent movie, Child Star, which she and Nicola Marsh co-directed.
According to Lovato, this is a tale she has been wanting to tell for a very long time. She also mentioned that she has always been curious about the experiences of young artists throughout history and different viewpoints on “what it’s like to be a child star in today’s day and age.”
The documentary will examine the highs and lows of growing up in the spotlight through the experiences of some of the most well-known former child stars in the world, according to the official synopsis. The film will examine the entertainment industry of the past century and dissect the phases of early popularity using archive material, vérité sequences, and interviews with celebrities.
Lovato continued, saying, “I’ve shared a lot with people, and I’ve realized that my experiences don’t define me.” She also said that she has always been “honest” in the past and has displayed vulnerability throughout her life. The artist went on to say that people frequently wish for things they cannot have and that as they age, they may put pressure on themselves since they are not as young as they used to be.
She said, “I try not to focus on how much time we have left, but rather than how much more life experience that we get to have if we’re lucky enough.”
Meanwhile, Hulu is now offering Demi Lovato’s Child Star for streaming.
