Nicole Kidman Appreciates Love and Kindness from Fans: Nicole Kidman is appreciative of the help she’s had since her mother passed away.
At the Venice Film Festival on Saturday, September 7, 48-year-old director Halina Reijn revealed that the Babygirl actress’s mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, had passed away. Kidman, 57, had gone early because of a family situation, Reijn said. On Tuesday, September 10, Kidman did not attend the movie’s North American premiere in Toronto.
Kidman began her post on Thursday, September 12, on Instagram, saying, “My sister and I along with our family want to thank you for the outpouring of love and kindness we have felt this week.”
“Every letter and note from people who respected and loved our mother has meant more to us than words can say. Our entire family is grateful that you have respected our privacy as we look out for one another ❤️,” she said in closing.
Three pictures of her mother were featured in her tribute. A single portrait of a very younger Janelle was the first. The next two images were family portraits with both Kidman and her sister Antonia Kidman.
In the comments section, many who knew the star well, offered their condolences.
Rose Byrne and Lily Rabe both posted heart emoticons.
My sincere sympathies are with you and the family. It is a blessing that I was in her company. Let them rest in power, wrote Lenny Kravitz. “Nicole, I’m so sad for your loss. My best wishes are with you and your family ❤️.” Written by Michelle Pfeiffer.
“To you both, I’m sending so much love. I apologize for your loss. Many people will miss your incredibly vivacious mother,” Naomi Watts commented. “Hopefully she is now happily united with your dad xxx love you.”
Reijn revealed that Nicole Kidman had flown into Venice and only learned “shortly after that” in his statement on Saturday, which was read aloud on the actress’s behalf during what would have been the star’s acceptance speech for best actress for her part in Babygirl.

“This award is for her, but I must see my family because I’m shocked.” She created me, molded me, and led me. Through Halina, I get to proclaim her name to all of you, and for that, I am incredibly grateful,” the message said. “The collision of life and art is devastating, and my heart is broken.”
Additionally, a representative for Nicole Kidman told the public that Janelle had passed away and that “the family is devastated and asks for privacy at this time.”
In an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald in 2020, Nicole Kidman talked candidly about how her mother influenced her career.
Kidman stated, “I’ve always wanted to please her, and she’s given me the fire to pursue the career I have.” “However, she also forged her own path and wished for her daughters to be granted the same chance to do the same.”
She said, “Mum didn’t always have the career she had hoped for, but she was adamant that her daughters would have equal opportunities.” That is what has given me life. Together with my father, she also gave me my life.
