Leah Remini and Angelo Pagán announce they are divorcing: After more than 20 years of marriage, Leah Remini and her husband Angelo Pagán are divorcing.

In a joint Instagram post on Thursday, August 29, the 54-year-old King of Queens star and the entrepreneur revealed their decision to call it quits on their 21-year marriage.

“All right, so here we are. We have chosen to file for divorce after 21 years of marriage and 28 years of dating,” the statement said. “This decision came after a lot of thought and care, and as hard as divorce is, we are approaching this with a positive outlook because we know it’s what’s best for us.”

It said, “We are proud of how we have worked through this together.” They said that they will “celebrate holidays together, watch our favorite tv shows together, and gather as a family” even as they work out their “new normal.”

“Now, the crucial query: why? In other words, like all humans, we evolved and became accustomed to inhabiting roles that no longer suited us. We have chosen to take this action, which represents who we are today, after much thought and deliberation,” they stated.

Our relationship has not changed; it is still very solid. We believe it is worthy of celebration to have a marriage that has endured this long and produced so many wonderful memories—raising our amazing daughter foremost among them. We considered this marriage to be a great success. We can hardly wait to create even more treasured moments going forward—just in a different way.”

Remini and Pagán stated that because they had discussed their marriage “so publicly” on television over the years, they wished to be “as transparent as we can be”.

“We are sharing this unknown territory with you all as we take our first steps into this next stage of our lives publicly,” the press release stated. “We hope that more relationship success stories will be available to everyone and that people will not feel alone while navigating the annual changes that millions of couples make to their relationships. We hope that by sharing our story, others will realize that relationships are not always a failure, even when they evolve or dissolve. As we move through this new chapter, we will continue to share glimpses into our lives.”

In 1996, while Pagán was performing at Los Angeles’ El Floridita, a Cuban restaurant and bar, the actress got to know him for the first time.

After marriage in 2003, the pair welcomed Sofia Bella into the world on June 16, 2004. In addition, Pagán has three boys from a prior relationship: Nico, Alex, and Angelo Jr.

Remini said, “For me, it was love at first sight,” in a 2010 interview with Redbook magazine.

During an interview on the brief talk program RuPaul in 2019, she talked about how they first met, saying, “I spotted him across the room and was like, ‘Damn! When do you end your shift?

It was all wrong, like asking a guy out after work and hitting it off right away is exactly what you should never do as a woman, and there was a lot of that. I felt like a groupie,” she said in jest.

Remini was candid about the highs and lows the couple experienced together as well.

“It is a beautiful love story because we did have a hard time at the beginning,” she said. “The conditions for our meeting were not ideal. We received counseling, and the journey was not simple. He is truly my rock, even though I am just stating these things to be humorous once more.”

Pagán collaborated with Remini on a number of projects over the years, including her popular sitcom The King of Queens, where Pagán made multiple cameos.

Remini most recently disclosed on her Instagram and X (formerly known as Twitter) profiles that she graduated from New York University (NYU) in March with an associate’s degree.

Remini said, “at the age of 50 after only having an 8th-grade education,” that she started the “terrifying journey” three years ago, next to a picture of her graduation.

“I have an associate’s degree from NYU, which I obtained after three years of arduous labor, sleepless nights, tears, and numerous attempts to quit up. I am currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree,” Remini declared.
