Vicki Gunvalson claims caused her amnesia is shared: After experiencing a significant health scare recently, Vicki Gunvalson is opening up.
The 62-year-old Real Housewives of Orange County star and her partner Michael Smith spoke on My Friend, My Soulmate, My Podcast on Monday, August 26. She talked about her hospital stays and experiences—or what she can recall, anyway—there.
The CEO and founder of Coto Insurance claimed that on Thursday, August 22, she started “talking gibberish” while speaking with a client.
The person, a retired physician, informed Olivia, Smith’s office-dwelling daughter, that Gunvalson was “possibly having a stroke.”
Gunvalson remarked, “I do not remember anything and [Olivia] took me to the hospital.”
Gunvalson claimed that the hospital’s medical staff sent her home that same evening after telling her that her symptoms were only a sinus infection.
Olivia called Smith, who was at the time in Scottdale, Arizona, and instructed him to go back home.
Smith described seeing Gunvalson “pretty much passed out” in a bathtub as “one of the scariest” times of his life, having taken the earliest flight back and returned home.
After grabbing her and removing her from the water, I put her to bed. He remembered, “The doctor said she just needed to sleep, so I put her in bed and she slept for literally thirteen or fourteen hours straight.”
Smith claimed that Gunvalson was “discombobulated” and unable to move when he attempted to get her out of bed, so he returned her to the hospital.
Smith stated, “She had a massive infection… it was actually pneumonia but it was sepsis.” “The way [the doctors] explained it is that when your body is fighting that big of an infection… your whole body attacks it what affects the brain and everything else in your body because your body sends everything it has to fight it.”
“It was risky. It was horrible,” Smith said.
Gunvalson said, “I do not remember much, and that is the brain trauma.” “It resembles PTSD or a stroke in that the brain simply goes into silent mode and refuses to remember to protect you.
Gunvalson reported that while she is “okay” for the moment, her recuperation has left her “super low” in energy. The reality TV star also complimented Smith’s daughter Olivia and said that he was “amazing” for “giving me my medicines because I can not remember when I am taking them.”
“I am not getting enough sleep, maybe even too much, but I do not have the stamina to walk at the moment. However, it resembles a stroke a lot, and I have basically had a blank three days,” the RHOC star continued.
Shannon Beador, Gunvalson’s co-star on RHOC, wished everyone a happy Monday on social media.
She said on Instagram, “I love you, my friend! ❤️ You are one of the strongest women I know, and you are going to get stronger every day!” beside a snapshot of the two of them grinning.
Nothing is able to bring you down! My prayers are with you always! “Mi Aries Amiga, I love you! 🥰🥰🥰,” she said in closing.
