Dolly Parton Releases Unheard 1988 Song: The second song off Dolly Parton’s upcoming album Dolly Parton & Family: Smoky Mountain DNA – Family, Faith and Fables has been made available. Heidi Parton, her niece, is also featured in the song.
November will see the release of Dolly Parton & Family: Smoky Mountain DNA – Family, Faith and Fables, a long new album by the 78-year-old legend of country music. The roots and legacy of her family, on both her mother’s and father’s lines, from the United Kingdom to Tennessee, will be the subject of this 36-song album.
On Friday, August 23, Parton revealed another song from her new album, “A Rose Will not Fix It,” following the release of the album’s title track. Resurrected is an unheard 1988 song featuring Dolly’s niece Heidi Parton, the daughter of Dolly’s brother Randy Parton. Parton sang the backing vocals for the chorus and verses of the song, while Heidi provided the lead vocals.
The song’s lyrics highlight the idea that flowers cannot atone for one’s transgressions. This song was composed and recorded for Parton’s 1988 album “Hungry Again,” however it was left off of the final version of the album.
Heidi shared on Instagram on Friday how she felt about singing a verse with her aunt. “I am so honoured to be a part of this incredible family project,” the writer added. One of the most amazing experiences of my life is the music I was able to contribute to being released as a single! Additionally, on November 15 of this year, I can not wait for you all to hear about the skill that our family possesses. Niece Heidi.
“I thank you all for your continued support and love for me and my family,” she stated in her letter. It is truly my wish that you share my passion for this song.
Along with her uncle Bill Owens, aunt Estelle Owens, brothers Floyd and Randy, sisters Cassie, Stella, Rachel, and Freida, and niece Jada Star, Parton also worked with her family on this album. Avie Lee Parton, her late mother, provided vocals for a number of the album’s tracks.
After Rockstar, which was released in November of last year, this will be Parton’s second full-length rock album, produced by her cousin Richie Owens. Alongside the record, a four-part documentary series that is presently in production will also be released.
This November 15th, Dolly Parton & Family: Smoky Mountain DNA – Family, Faith, and Fables will be available for purchase.
