Michael Keaton jumps scared Jenna Ortega: Michael Keaton, who costarred with Jenna Ortega in Beetlejuice, gave her the scare of her life!

The actress, 21, disclosed that she was jump-scared by actor Kevin Keaton, 72, as he was portraying his renowned character on the set of the much-awaited 1988 film sequel, during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday, August 21.

Jimmy Fallon, the host, questioned, “What is it like when Michael Keaton comes on set as Beetlejuice?” Does someone go silent or start crying? I would shed a tear.

“He approached me from behind,” Ortega clarified. “It was a jump fright when I turned around after feeling tapped on the shoulder during a hair and makeup test. He said, “Oh, hi, I am Michael.’ he had molds peeling off his face.”

“I pretended to be calm, and everything was fine until I ran into him again while getting ready for a date. I introduced myself again, not realising that I had already met him,” she laughed.

Fallon, 49, continued, “Yeah, you met Beetlejuice, not Michael Keaton.”

The Wednesday actress continued, calling Keaton “the coolest” and confessing that she was nervous about working with the Oscar contender and costars Catherine O’Hara and Winona Ryder, who had also played Lydia and Delia Deetz in the original film.

Never in a million years. In Beetlejuice, Ortega plays Lydia’s teenage daughter Astrid Deetz. “I just never could have anticipated something like that happening,” Ortega said. The world’s coolest character is Lydia. I was afraid of everything about it.

Lydia wore a custom Thom Browne suit that channelled the iconic ending sequence of the original movie when she stepped out in New York City earlier this month, and Ortega paid tribute to her sense of taste.

For the press rounds for her most recent film, Ortega fit wore the outfit, which included a plaid skirt, two-tone Mary Janes, and a blue sweater with Lydia’s school’s insignia on it.

The Beetlejuice After debuting at the Venice Film Festival on August 28, Beetlejuice opens in theatres on September 6.
