On the Armchair Expert podcast, Julianne Hough recently talked about her three-year romance with Ryan Seacrest. During their affair, which occurred at the same time as the dancer’s rise to prominence, the 36-year-old opened openly about her concerns. Hough acknowledged that there were difficulties in a relationship with someone as successful as Seacrest, despite the “romantic” and “exciting” times. Their 2013 breakup had taught her that she had to go it alone.
In retrospect, Hough and presenter Dax Shepard discussed the challenges of dating the 49-year-old Seacrest while she rose to prominence in the business. Hough was concerned that, considering Seacrest’s popularity on radio and television, their relationship might convey the wrong message.
Hough remarked, “I was just flying, experiencing things I did not even know existed, and the rug was swept out from underneath me.” “However, I was insecure that no one would believe I was with him for those reasons.”
Although Seacrest, the American Idol host, is a “lovely guy,” Hough has previously stated that she was worried about people taking advantage of him. She was anxious to make sure that her impression was not the same. When Hough and her then-boyfriend Chuck Wicks appeared on Seacrest’s radio show, it was how they first crossed paths. But she did not begin seeing Seacrest until the summer of 2010, following her split with Wicks.
The Dancing with the Stars alum broke up with Seacrest in 2013, despite the belief held by some that their relationship was the reason her life was “completely set up.” Hough believed that her achievements should be determined by her own work, not by her relationship with Seacrest.
Hough started dating hockey player Brooks Laich later that year. Their marriage ended in divorce in 2022, but they had filed for one in 2020.
