Brandy says she would like to go back: For the planned sequel to I Know What You Did Last Summer, Brandy would be open to coming back.
The 45-year-old singer and actress, who played Karla Wilson in the 1998 film I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, claimed she had not been contacted about the impending horror in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter newspaper.
“I need them to give me an answer phone because I succeeded in that movie!” Brandy informed the publication. “In the end, bloodied and prepared to depart, I emerged. In that movie, I did not die!”
She continued by praising Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt, who had roles in the 1997 adolescent horror blockbuster and its follow-up. According to reports, the two are in talks to return to their roles in the new film.
“Jennifer, Freddie, hit me up!” Brandy said.
The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, and Deadline all reported in February 2023 that Sony Pictures was in the early stages of developing the new I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel, and that Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, the director of Netflix’s Do Revenge and co-writer of Thor: Love and Thunder, had been tapped for the film’s helm. It is said that Leah McKendrick (Scrambled) is penning the screenplay.
Based on Lois Duncan’s 1973 novel of the same name, the series is on a group of friends who are being pursued by a killer with a hook for covering up a car accident that claimed a man’s life.
In spite of the press around the anticipated sequel, Brandy revealed to THR that she was unaware of its impending release until they enquired about it. “I was unaware that Sony was assembling that,” the popular song “Boy Is Mine” vocalist remarked. “I find that to be intriguing!”
She restated her ignorance about the much-awaited movie. “I am not going to take advantage of you,” Brandy assured the publication. “I had no idea about that!”
Unlike the 2021 Prime Video TV series and the 2006 I Know What You Did Last Summer revival movie, which were fresh stories, the new movie is reportedly going to continue the plot from the original film.

Prinze Jr. stated to Entertainment Tonight only on July 30 that while he is optimistic about returning as Ray Bronson in the follow-up, nothing is certain just yet.
“Talking is not like talking. He told the newspaper, “They are going fantastic one week and horrible the next. “As we have not experienced a terrible week, one may be on the horizon.” I do not get overly involved in it until the agreement is signed, so I am not sure.”
“I think both parties — them and me — are extremely determined to get it done,” he stated.
The fact that Prinze Jr. and Robinson are pals is beneficial. Robinson co-starred in Do Revenge with Sarah Michelle Gellar. The She is All That actor remarked, “[Robinson] was the one to talk to me over a year ago when the studio was even talking,” adding that the filmmaker had begged him, “‘Could you — would you please do this?'”
In May, Hewitt, 45, said to ET that while she is “honestly terrified” to play the same role again, she plans to bring her personality “back with 26 years more angst, knowledge, kickassery (which I am turning into a word), and have some fun.”
“It honestly is wild to even think about,” she stated. “If everything works out, I have no idea how I will feel other than incredibly grateful and overwhelmed, but it is amazing to consider… It is good to know that enthusiasm for the prospect exists. If it all worked together, I think it would be a lot of fun.”
